When the "check charging system" warning light illuminates in your Toyota Camry, it indicates that the car is operating solely on battery power. If the issue persists and the charging system malfunctions, the battery will not be able to recharge, leading to a drained battery. The alternator is not effectively recharging the battery in the vehicle. The most probable reason for this is a faulty alternator, a potential wiring short, or a broken drive belt that is hindering the alternator's operation. To investigate further, you can inspect under the hood for any visible signs of damage to the wiring or a clearly broken or loose belt.
Inspecting the charging system of a Toyota Camry indicates that there is an issue with the alternator.
The engine isn't running, only the auxiliary features are active.
I recently purchased a 2015 Toyota Camry from a dealership. My Camry's accessories display a "check charging system" message, but it disappears once I start the car. The dealership claimed this is normal, but I suspect they were trying to scam me. I even had AutoZone check the alternator and battery, which were both working fine. I was surprised to find that the "check charging system" message still appears, even after checking another 2015 Camry with the same issue.
Often, the issue is due to a need for new spark plugs in the engine or a malfunctioning fuel system.
