The Ford Transit Connect doesn't have a well-known issue with vacuum pump problems, but that doesn't rule out the possibility. If you suspect yours is malfunctioning, watch for signs such as a lit check engine light, decreased gas mileage, softer brake pedal feel, and oil leaks. Even without these signs, a sudden and severe vacuum pump failure could still occur. One driver had a vacuum pump fail dramatically, causing an oil pipe to melt, oil to spray, and servo brakes to fail. Although this isn't common, it highlights the potential dangers of a malfunctioning vacuum pump, especially at high speeds on the highway.
If the vacuum pump in your Ford Transit stops working, you might observe reduced gas mileage, less pressure on the brake pedal, and oil seeping from the side of the engine.
