The 2000 Ford Expedition originally had a 4.6L V8 engine, but there was also the choice to upgrade to a 5.4L V8 engine. Both versions require the same amount and type of oil, with a capacity of 6 US quarts and 5W-20 oil. To prevent engine damage, it's recommended to change the oil every 5,000 miles. If you plan on changing the oil yourself, you will need a 13mm socket to remove the oil pan bolt. When using a torque wrench to loosen it, set the torque to 18 ft/lbs.
All three available engines in the 2000 Ford Expedition - the 4.6L V8 with engine code 6, the 4.6L V8 with engine code W, and the 5.4L V8 - need 6 quarts of 5W20 synthetic oil according to a notice from Ford. Initially, Ford advised using 5W30 synthetic oil before issuing this bulletin.
I made a mistake and accidentally got synthetic oil instead of regular oil for my 2000 Ford Expedition XLT 4.6. I only have one quart of regular oil left. Is it okay to mix them for an oil change?
