For peak performance and results, Chevrolet suggests using a 15w-40 viscosity motor oil from a reputable brand in the 2002 Chevy Silverado. Opt for fully synthetic oil for the best protection, efficiency, and performance. Although semi-synthetic oils are acceptable, fully synthetic oils offer greater durability and performance. Chevrolet advises changing both the oil and filter every 3,000 to 5,000 miles with conventional oil. If using synthetic oil, whether fully synthetic or semi-synthetic, they recommend changing both every 7,500 to 10,000 miles for optimal maintenance.
