In 2009, the Ford Fusion came with a standard 2.3-liter 4-cylinder engine, but the higher trim levels featured a 3.0-liter V6 engine. For the 2.3-liter model, the oil capacity is 4.5 US quarts with the filter, and you should use 5W-20 synthetic oil. If you have the 3.0-liter V6, the oil capacity increases to 6 US quarts with the filter, and you should still use 5W-20 synthetic oil. Both models are equipped with an oil drain plug that has a 16mm head size, requiring 22 ft/lbs of torque to remove it using a torque wrench.
The 2009 Ford Fusion suggests using an oil that meets Ford's standards, with the recommended engine oil being the SAE 5W-20 type. For the 2010 Ford Fusion, the 2.3L engine requires 4.8 US quarts of oil, while the 3.0L engine needs 6 quarts.
