The 2017 Chevrolet Camaro requires 5W-30 oil with a capacity of 5.5 quarts. It is important to change the oil regularly, ideally every 5,000 to 10,000 miles, to maintain engine health. Failing to do so can lead to engine issues. Using high-quality oil is essential for optimal engine performance. Neglecting oil changes can result in engine failure, evidenced by a foul burning smell and reduced gas mileage. If ignored, this could potentially lead to catastrophic consequences such as engine knocking.
I emptied out about 9-10 quarts of oil, but I ended up purchasing an 11th quart because my dipstick indicated that I was lacking about half a quart.
In 2017 Chevy Camaros, the recommended oil is a full synthetic SAE 5W-30 motor oil. The amount needed differs by engine type. The 2.0L four-cylinder and 3.6L V6 engines each require 5.5 quarts with a filter, unless the car has an OCOOL system, in which case it needs 6 quarts with a filter. The larger 6.2L V8 engine requires 8 quarts with a filter.
