Mechatronic issues are a common concern with the Volkswagen Tiguan gearbox. Drivers may experience delayed acceleration and a sudden banging noise, followed by jerky movements. Problems with Volkswagen transmissions, like rough shifting, going into limp mode, or not shifting/reversing, can sometimes be linked to low transmission fluid levels. However, more severe issues such as a faulty valve body, clogged filter, malfunctioning solenoids, bad mechatronic unit, or problematic torque converter could also be at play. According to many owners, a failing transmission range sensor can lead to various complications, including the car entering limp mode, trouble shifting in Drive or Reverse, and potential failure to start due to the PCM not recognizing the Park position.
