The reason you may be experiencing difficulties using the push button to start your Dodge Challenger is likely due to issues with the battery. The first battery to check is the one in your remote entry key FOB. Even though you use the push button, it still relies on the key's presence and transmitted code. If the key's battery is low, the vehicle won't detect it, leading to the push start not working. You can test this by trying another factory key; if the problem persists, replace the battery with a new 3v CR2032. The second battery to consider is your vehicle's main battery. If it's too low, you might face intermittent problems with the push button start, requiring multiple presses to start the car. This could indicate an undercharged or aging car battery, which might need replacing to resolve the push button start issues.
I own a 2014 Dodge Challenger SXT and I've been experiencing issues with the push-to-start button over the past five months. What happens is when I press the start button, the engine starts but then immediately shuts off and goes into accessory mode. I have to turn off the car completely and then try starting it again.
Replaced the key fob battery, but the car still won't start.
When I stop my car using the push button, it turns off the engine, but it reengages the engine mode. I have to press the button twice to fully shut off the engine, even though I usually just tap it once.
Has anyone managed to repair it?
The most frequent reason for the push-to-start button not functioning on a Dodge Challenger is because the battery in the key fob is running low.
