The Toyota Yaris doesn't have a higher likelihood of fuel gauge problems compared to other vehicles. It can still experience issues like a faulty fuel tank sensor, a malfunctioning instrument panel, or a damaged fuel level float. However, these issues are not more common in the Yaris than in similar cars. One common problem in Toyota vehicles is the fuel level float detaching from its arm, leading to inaccurate readings. Repairing this involves dropping the fuel tank to access the float. It is recommended to check the fuel tank sensor first as it tends to fail more frequently than the instrument panel.
To recalibrate the fuel gauge in a Toyota Yaris, press the ODO/TRIP button and shut off the car. Continue to hold the button while turning the car back on to confirm it is in ODO/TRIP mode. Then, turn off the car again. Wait for 10 minutes, turn it on, and then off. The gauge should now be reset. If this process doesn't work, there may be an issue with power supply to the gauge or faulty wiring connected to it.
