The 2000 Toyota Corolla comes from the factory with a 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine, and it requires 3.9 US quarts of motor oil, including the filter. You can use either conventional or synthetic blend 5W-30 motor oil for this vehicle. If you opt for conventional oil, you'll need to change it every 5,000 miles. However, if you choose a synthetic blend, you can go up to 7,500 miles before needing an oil change, providing some advantages. If you prefer having the oil change done at a professional shop, expect to pay between $90 and $120 for the service.

Can you explain the type of engine oil needed, which is 5w-30?
In the year 2000, I used regular 5W-30 oil instead of synthetic oil in my vehicle. Nowadays, I primarily use a synthetic blend, although I occasionally mix in some full synthetic oil. I find that the synthetic blend performs well even in extremely cold temperatures, possibly because synthetic oil may have better flow and startup qualities. However, using full synthetic is not necessary; synthetic blend works just fine. Currently, I am using Quaker State's high mileage synthetic blend 5W-30, which is a budget-friendly oil of similar quality to Pennzoil or Shell oils since Quaker State is a part of the Shell oil family.
