The primary concern with the stabilitrak system in a Chevy Traverse is the potential loss of traction while driving. This typically occurs due to a faulty sensor at one of the wheels, as the system continuously checks each wheel to prevent free spinning. Another potential problem relates to the car's ABS system, which may engage when traction is lost, prompting the brake system to prevent the wheel from spinning freely. If there is a computer malfunction, individual wheels may lock up, causing driving difficulties and potentially dragging a wheel.

I had an issue with my 2010 Chevy Traverse where the Service Stabilitrak and Service Traction Control messages appeared on the display. This also caused my Cruise Control to stop working. Sometimes, I heard clicking from the shifter console when the engine was started, even though the brake wasn't applied and the transmission was in park. This was due to a problem with the shift interlock solenoid. At times, the vehicle would shift out of park when the brake wasn't applied, but if the brake was engaged, it wouldn't shift out of park. I replaced the aftermarket brake light switch with one from the Chevy dealership because the lights were staying on constantly. After the switch replacement, the brake lights worked properly when the pedal was pressed, and the Stabilitrak and traction control issues were resolved. The lesson learned is to always opt for a switch from the original manufacturer, as it provided a better fit and resolved the problems I was experiencing.

Issue with a stuck steering wheel. The stability track and traction control lights come on. Also, there's a service power steering message advising to drive carefully. No mechanic has been able to determine the root cause. Apart from the stiff and stuck steering wheel, I've also noticed another problem - the vehicle shakes and stalls immediately after refueling, and the speed weakens, especially when going uphill.
