In the USA, the 2016 Honda HR-V key fob runs on a CR2032 battery, which you can typically buy for $3 to $5. When replacing the battery, start by taking out the mechanical key. Find the small knob on the back of the fob and pull it while pulling out the key. Use the key to pry open the fob by inserting it into the middle slot and twisting. Once the fob is open, you can switch out the batteries. Finally, snap the two sides back together and put the mechanical key back in place.

The key fob does not require a CR2032 battery as it is too large. Instead, it operates using a single CR 1620 battery.
The CR1620 battery is the appropriate choice for the 2016 HRV model!
