The manufacturer advises using premium gasoline with an octane rating of 91 or higher in your 2005 Acura MDX. While you can technically use 89 octane without causing harm to the vehicle, it's not recommended. Using fuel with a lower octane level could reduce the vehicle's performance and potentially cause long-term damage to the engine. The vehicle has a maximum fuel tank capacity of 20.4 US gallons, and gets 17 MPG in the city and 23 MPG on the highway. With these specs, you shouldn't need to refuel frequently.
Acura suggests that you should use 91 octane Premium gas in the 2005 Acura MDX, but they also mentioned that it is okay to use 89 octane gas.
