The 2007 Subaru Legacy had two engine options: a 2.5 liter 4-cylinder engine, with one being turbocharged and the other not. The non-turbo engine needs 4.4 quarts of SAE 5W-30 full synthetic motor oil, while the turbo engine requires slightly more at 4.5 quarts. If you can't find SAE 5W-30, you can temporarily use 10W-30 or 10W-40, but it's not ideal. Using thicker oil can create friction in the engine, leading to premature wear and potential problems down the road. It's recommended to stick with the manufacturer's suggested oil with the lowest weight, even if it's a bit pricier.
