The Lincoln Aviator was made from 2003 to 2005 with just one engine choice, the 4.6L V8. During these years, it needed 6.0 quarts of SAE 5W-20 full synthetic motor oil, but you could use SAE 5W-30 temporarily. The Aviator returned in 2020 with two engine options, both based on the turbocharged 3.0-liter V6, and each requiring 6.0 quarts of SAE 5W-30 full synthetic oil. While you can temporarily use SAE 5W-40, it's not recommended to make these substitutions as using heavier oils than recommended can cause premature engine wear from increased friction. This can result in early engine failure, so it's best to stick to the manufacturer's specified oil type with the lowest weight for long-term engine health.
The Lincoln Aviator requires SAE 5W-20 engine oil for optimal performance.
Make sure to indicate the model year of Aviator you need information about. The previous Aviator model required 5w-20 oil, while the new turbocharged 3.0L engine for the 2020 model year uses 5w-30 oil.
