In the 2005 BMW X3, it is recommended to use either 5W-30 or 0W-30 oil for both the 2.5 L 6-cylinder and the 3.0 L 6-cylinder engines, regardless of the temperature. The vehicle requires 6.6 quarts of oil with a filter for both engine types. Changing the oil and filter every 10,000 miles or 12 months is necessary to maintain a clean and well-functioning engine. This interval is longer compared to most other vehicles which typically require an oil change every 5,000 miles or 6 months. The cost for an oil change, including labor fees, is approximately $50 to $70, slightly higher than some other car brands. Completing an oil change for the BMW X3 only takes around 5 to 15 minutes.
Hey everyone, can someone guide me in the right direction? I own a 2005 BMW X3 E83 2.5 with an automatic transmission and I'm looking for recommendations on the best engine oil to use. Should I go with full synthetic 5W-30 or 5W-40? Thanks, Kev.
BMW suggests using 5W-30 oil for the 2.5L and 3.0L V6 engines in the 2005 X3, but 5W-40 oil can also be used as a substitute for either engine choice.
Can you confirm if there's a recall for that vehicle, please?
