The type of oil you should use in your 2008 Volkswagen Touareg depends on the engine it has. For V6 models, use "long life engine oils" that meet VW standards 502 00, 503 01, or 505 01. V8 models require "long life engine oils" that meet VW standards 500 00, 501 01, 502 00, or 503 00. For any engine size, use ILSAC GF3 engine oils with a viscosity rating of SAE 5W-40 or SAE 5W-30, depending on the climate. It's recommended to opt for fully synthetic or synthetic blend motor oil. Make sure to change the oil every 10,000 miles or at least once a year. Check the engine oil level at least monthly, but more often is even better.
