The 2010 Nissan Maxima requires only Genuine Nissan CVT Fluid NS-2 for its transmission. Substituting with any other type of fluid can cause harm to the CVT transmission. It is advisable to check the transmission fluid level regularly, at least once a month or more frequently. To inspect the fluid level, first open the hood using the hood release lever inside the car and then lifting the hood up after releasing the latch. The transmission dipstick can be found on the driver's side of the engine. A flat blade screwdriver is needed to remove the dipstick from the tube. Insert the screwdriver into the slot at the front and gently pry up, then slide the screwdriver under the tab at the bottom and lift to release. Ideally, the fluid level should be between the MIN and MAX indicators on the dipstick.
The recommended transmission fluid for a 2010 Nissan Maxima is Valvoline synthetic CVT transmission fluid.
