For the 2003 Ford Explorer, it is recommended to use conventional ATF-F TYPE automatic transmission fluid. To change the transmission fluid, begin by ensuring the car is parked on a level surface and open the hood. Locate the transmission fluid reservoir near or on the transmission itself, and find the dipstick. Remove the dipstick, wipe it clean, reinsert it, and pull it out again to check the fluid level. Take note of the amount of fluid in the reservoir and the required amount for a refill. Using a funnel, fill the reservoir with fluid until it reaches the full mark, avoiding overfilling. Close the reservoir and you are ready to go.
