While Ford has adjusted its recommendation slightly over the various model years of the C-Max, it is generally suggested to replace the timing belt every 60,000 to 100,000 miles. The actual cost of the belt ranges from $25 to $50, but labor expenses can differ significantly, ranging from $200 to $900, depending on the location and the transparency of the repair shop. Signs that the timing belt may be failing or broken include engine ticking noises, the check engine light appearing or flashing, reduced power or rough idling, difficult starts, and sporadic misfires.
Ford suggests changing the timing belt at approximately 125,000 miles or every 10 years.
Cmax comes equipped with a timing chain rather than a timing belt.
