As an American, I would say that it is advised to replace the CVT fluid in a Honda Accord every 45,000 to 90,000 miles. The amount of fluid needed can vary, ranging from 4.4 to 8 quarts depending on the type of transmission (manual or automatic). You have the option to perform the fluid change on your own using tools like a 3/8 breaker bar, torque wrench, ball peen hammer, and a drain pan. Make sure to have a funnel and a drain plug crush washer on hand. Start by taking off the splash shield caps under the vehicle, then use the breaker bar to remove the drain plug bolt with the drain pan below to catch the fluid. After cleaning the bolt and replacing the crush washer, reinstall the bolt and tighten it to 36 lb-ft of torque. Finally, refill the transmission with new fluid, preferably using genuine Honda transmission fluid.
How often should the CVT fluid be changed in a 2018 Honda Accord?
In a Honda Accord with a CVT, it is recommended to change the transmission fluid every 45,000 miles. The brake fluid and coolant should be replaced every 90,000 miles.
