In the 2012 Mercedes CLS550, there are two batteries installed. The main battery, located in the trunk, is a group size 49 H8. If this battery needs replacing and is dead, the trunk release button on the driver's door panel may not work. To jump-start the car, you will need to use a battery charger connected to the jump point beneath the carpet on the passenger side firewall. Pull back the carpet, remove the foam underneath carefully, and then take off the metal cover secured by three 10-millimeter bolts. Once the panel is off, you will find the jump point behind it. Connect the positive lead to the red cable on the lower right corner of the jump point, and the negative lead to the square plate just above it. Wait a few minutes, press the trunk release button, and you will find the battery on the right side of the trunk.
