In the BMW 218i, the battery is placed in the trunk of the car, under the carpeting on the right side. The suitable replacement battery for this model is a group size 94R/H7 AGM battery with 800 cold cranking amps. If your battery dies and you need to jump-start the vehicle, find the jump points under the hood. To jump-start the 218i, you'll need jumper cables and another vehicle with a good battery. Position the vehicles close enough for the cables to reach, then connect the red cable clamp to the positive terminal on the good battery and the other end to the positive terminal on the dead battery. Repeat the process with the black clamps, connecting them to the negative terminals of each battery. After starting the BMW, drive for approximately 20 minutes to allow the alternator to recharge the dead battery before turning off the engine.
