The 2008 Chevrolet Malibu doesn't have a cabin air filter; instead, it utilizes a plastic mesh to block debris from entering the HVAC system. The plastic mesh does not require replacement, unlike a typical cabin air filter. Chevrolet started incorporating cabin air filters in the Malibu model from the year 2013. If the 2008 model did have a cabin air filter, it would need replacement every 15,000 to 30,000 miles under normal conditions, or every around 10,000 miles in extreme conditions. However, since the 2008 Malibu does not use a cabin air filter, there is no need for replacement.
The air filter in the 2008 Chevy Malibu is situated right over the glove box.
I own a 2008 Chevy Malibu LTZ3.6. I recently checked under the glove box where the cabin air filter is typically located, only to discover that Chevy didn't include a cabin air filter in this model. Instead, there's a big rectangular plastic piece with a dotted line that says “CUT ALONG THE DOTTED LINES TO ADD CABIN AIR FILTER”.

Where can I locate an air cabin filter for my 2008 Malibu LTZ?
