In the 2006 Lexus IS250, there are dual camshaft position sensors. One can be found on the left side of the engine beneath the plastic shroud close to the oil fill cap, secured by a single 10 mm bolt with a wire loom connected to it. The other sensor is situated on the opposing engine bank in a similar position. These sensors play a crucial role in assisting the ECM to ensure the engine operates in a synchronized and efficient manner. When one of these sensors malfunctions, signs like rough idling, difficulty starting, failure to start, or even sudden engine failure while driving may manifest. Fortunately, replacing these sensors is typically cost-effective and relatively straightforward to do.
