To replace the cooling fan relay or fan control module in a 2013 Volkswagen Jetta, you must remove the entire cooling fan assembly. This involves taking out four T-30 torx head bolts – two on each side of the fan housing. While the top two bolts can be accessed from above, the lower two require removal from under the front of the car. The lower passenger side bolt is easy to reach, but removing the belly pan is necessary to access the driver's side bolt, which is held by eight T-25 torx head bolts. After disconnecting the electrical connector, slide the fan down to remove it. The relay is located on the larger fan, requiring the replacement of the entire fan unit. To do this, unclip two electrical connectors and unbolt three 10-millimeter nuts.
Do you know where to find the specific spot in the fuse box or do you have a diagram handy?
Certainly! You can locate the cooling fan relay for a 2013 VW Jetta by checking inside the fuse box beneath the instrument panel in the driver's side footwell.
My Jetta 6's fan is running at a very high speed.
