In the 2004 Nissan Murano, the fuel filter is located inside the fuel tank as part of the fuel pump assembly. It is not designed to be replaced independently but requires the entire fuel pump assembly to be removed and replaced. Fortunately, Nissan has made the replacement process relatively easy by providing access through a panel under the rear seats. While the fuel filter in the '04 Murano is built to last a lifetime, if you are experiencing symptoms that may be related to the filter, it is more likely that issues are with the fuel pump, fuel injector, or fuel pressure sensor, as clogging of the fuel filter is very rare.
