In a 2007 Toyota Camry 2.4 liter, the fuel filter is part of the fuel sending unit in the gas tank. It cannot be changed separately, so the whole fuel pump unit must be replaced if the filter needs changing. To do this, the rear seat has to be taken out. After disconnecting the electrical connector, the access panel can be pried up by inserting a tool underneath it. This panel is held down by a rubberized adhesive. Once the panel is removed, the fuel line and electrical connector to the pump need to be disconnected before unboltin the pump from the top of the tank.

The pump assembly has an integrated filter that dealerships and garages might claim is not replaceable. However, as an ASE certified automotive technician with over 16 years of experience, I can assure you that the pump assembly can be disassembled. You are able to replace both the pump and the filter individually. This type of pump operates similarly to other Bosch-style in-tank fuel pumps. The replacement kit should include the filter, new clamps, and any other necessary components for the change. Don't be fooled into unnecessary expenses - you have the ability to service the filter yourself.

I appreciate you informing me that the fuel filter can be replaced separately from the fuel pump in a 2007 Camry. The technician mentioned that because the filter was bad, they initially thought the entire fuel pump needed to be replaced, which would have been costly.

It lacks a fuel filter, aside from that.

The fuel filter in your 2007 Toyota Camry is situated inside the fuel tank and is not meant to be replaced separately.
