This integrated design is common in modern cars, as opposed to older models where fuel filters were susceptible to leaks when installed on the underside of the vehicle. If you observe low fuel pressures at the fuel rail, it could indicate a clogged filter. Replacing the filter would require replacing the entire sending unit within the tank.
