In the 2008 Chevrolet Malibu, there isn't a specific alternator fuse or relay located in either the passenger compartment box or the engine compartment box. Instead, a component called a "fusible link" is positioned directly in the line between the starter and the alternator to serve as the alternator fuse. If you're experiencing battery draining problems while driving, it could be due to a faulty alternator. To troubleshoot, the first step is to inspect this fusible link using a digital multimeter to test the power on the heavy red wire connected to the alternator. If the battery is discharging when the engine is off, it's more probable that there is a malfunctioning component depleting the battery power.
Extra fuses for the alternator of a 2008 Chevy Malibu can be located within the fuse box.
