The Jeep Grand Cherokee from 2012 is being recalled due to potential issues with its 5.7-liter or 3.6-liter engine and either a 160-, 180- or 220-amp alternator. This problem arises from premature diode wear, which can lead to a sudden alternator short circuit. This could cause the vehicle to unexpectedly stop in traffic, posing a higher risk of accidents. The alternator's functioning is overseen by the Jeep's PCM, with the PCM fuse located in engine compartment slot #33, which is a 10-amp plug, and it is also managed by the R5 relay. These components can be located in the passenger side of the firewall's fuse box. It is advisable to consult a local dealership to verify the necessity of the recall before attempting to diagnose any charging issues with the 2012 Cherokee.
In the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee, there isn't a fuse for the alternator.
