The 2016 GMC Canyon comes with a jack stored behind the back seat on the passenger side. To access it, fold down the rear seatback and remove the cover in the recessed area. The jack for the Canyon is found under the cover and can be released by unscrewing it. To safely support one or more corners of the vehicle, the jack should be able to handle at least 75% of the total weight. The Canyon has a weight range of 3,932 to 4,555 lbs and is best supported by a 3-ton jack. A 3-ton jack is capable of holding up to 6,000 pounds, while a two-ton jack only carries up to 4,000 lbs. Generally, smaller vehicles use 2-ton jacks, and trucks and SUVs use 3-ton jacks. Lifting the front of the vehicle typically supports 60% of the truck's weight because the engine contributes the most to its overall weight.
The jack for the 2016 GMC Canyon can be found on the back panel inside the passenger compartment.
My spare tire is located behind the passenger's rear seat, and unfortunately, the seat does not fold down in my truck.
