Starting from the 2013 model year, the Nissan Altima no longer accommodates a key fob slot. Instructions on how to start the vehicle in case the battery dies can be found on page 5-10 of the owner's manual. To carry out this process, simply hold the fob near the ignition button and press it to start the car. While this may be a little inconvenient, it is a more manageable situation compared to some other cars. It is advised to stay up to date on maintenance tasks, such as replacing the key fob battery every 20-22 months, to avoid unexpected issues. Although this may incur some additional costs in the long run, it provides peace of mind and is well worth the investment.
