On the 2.4L engine of the 2002 Honda CR-V, you can locate the knock sensor directly on the engine block, and this same setup applies to all models from 1997 through 2006. Specifically, it is situated on the side of the engine block, hidden behind the intake manifold. While it may seem like removing the intake manifold is necessary to replace the knock sensor based on photos, that's not actually the case. As per the service manual, the process involves lifting the vehicle, securing it with jackstands, and disconnecting the knock sensor from below. After removing and reinstalling the knock sensor, following the torque specification of 32 Nm (23 lb-ft), the replacement seems relatively straightforward. However, as is often the scenario, things can become more complex once you start working on it.
