After 1996, all cars come with a system called OBD2 or "Onboard Diagnostics II" that allows a special tool to connect to the car's computer. The system records any issues with the engine or operations in the form of codes, which can be read by a compatible scanner when connected to the car. The 2011 Nissan Rogue has an OBD2 port positioned above the brake pedal on the driver's side, below the dashboard. To check for any problems with the Rogue, simply plug the scanner into this port to get the trouble codes.
