In the 2018 GMC Terrain, the oil filter is located near the front, close to the oil pan. Before changing the oil in the car, ensure that the vehicle has been turned off and parked for a few hours. This way, you can avoid getting burned by the hot oil. Locate the oil pan under the hood and find the drain plug beneath it. Place a bucket under the plug, remove it, and allow the oil to drain into the bucket. Let it drain completely, which might take about an hour. Once the dripping stops, reattach the drain plug. Next, find the intake port on the top of the oil pan and use a funnel to fill it with oil up to the full mark, ensuring not to overfill. It's okay to be a little under the full mark, but overfilling can cause leaks and oil burn-off. After filling the oil, securely close the port, clean up any spills, and you're all set.
