In American terms, the orifice tube, also called the Thermal Expansion Valve (TXV), is positioned on the passenger side in a vertical line close to the condenser at the front of the radiator in the engine compartment under the hood. It's a small piece of tubing that can easily break or go missing, so it's advisable to replace it. You can attach a new one at the dimple and secure it to the frame using the plastic clamps nearby. At times, you may also need to add a hose insulator over the TXV.
In the 2006 Dodge Ram 2500, the air conditioning orifice tube is crimped into the liquid line, necessitating the replacement of the entire line. Accessing it involves removing the air filter box and the passenger side battery box, which in turn requires loosening the inner fender lining to access and unbolt the lower battery box screws.
The orifice tube can be found at a connection point in a tube that stretches from the condenser to the evaporator.
