The 2009 Honda Accord has O2 sensors located on both the front and rear of the front exhaust pipe. There might be additional sensors on the rear exhaust pipe, past the catalytic converter. These sensors play a crucial role in the vehicle's emission and ignition systems as they monitor the amount of unburnt oxygen coming out of the exhaust pipes. This information is then sent to the car's main computer, or ECU, to adjust the engine's air/fuel mixture. Properly functioning O2 sensors help to maintain good fuel economy and engine performance. However, when these sensors start to fail or wear out, they can provide inaccurate readings, causing the car to run either too rich or too lean. This can lead to issues like rough idling, decreased gas mileage, and potential misfires. Replacing an O2 sensor in a Honda Accord typically costs between $300 and $600 for parts and labor.
