The 2014 Kia Optima is equipped with electric power steering instead of traditional power steering fluid. This system utilizes an electronic motor to assist the steering box, making it easier to turn the wheel. Unlike the older hydraulic power steering system that relied on pumps and hoses, the electric power steering motor is becoming more common in newer models. If you experience difficulty with the steering feeling heavy, it may indicate an issue with the motor. In such cases, it is recommended to check the fuses first as it could be a sign of motor failure or internal wiring damage.

You're being foolish for even making such a statement.

Does it require liquid or not? My vehicle is emitting a sound.

My car is making a lot of noise and the electronic power steering (EPS) light, along with all the other dashboard lights, came on. It's frustrating, not funny at all. I am angry because there is no fluid issue, it's the electronic power steering that's malfunctioning. This problem started about a month ago, where the light would turn on and then turn off. But today it was flashing. I stopped to get gas, and even after that, the light was still on. When I got back home and then went to pick up my daughter for softball, just half a mile down the road, all the lights on the dashboard suddenly lit up, and my steering became very stiff (as the saying goes, "That's what she said"). Now I am in the middle of trying to troubleshoot this problem without resorting to taking it to the dealership! I wish good luck to everyone dealing with a similar issue.
