In a 2016 Ford Focus, the EVAP canister, or purge valve, is situated on the driver side firewall, to the left of the brake booster and master cylinder. The canister contains activated charcoal to capture emissions from your car, keeping the environment cleaner and the air inside the vehicle healthier for you. A malfunctioning canister can lead to a fuel odor in the car, possibly resembling rotten eggs, which is unsafe to breathe and can cause the car to fail an emissions test and result in a ticket. If you detect such odors or receive a trouble code, it's essential to bring the car to a mechanic for inspection.
The 2016 Ford Focus vent valve could be found positioned inside the EVAP canister positioned above the rear muffler.
