In a 2006 Dodge Ram, the tachometer obtains RPM information from the PCM through the crankshaft position sensor, situated near the rear of the engine where the transmission connects to the engine block. Fortunately, this sensor typically functions well and isn't frequently in need of replacement. There are also two speed sensors on the transmission that may lead to issues: one input speed sensor near the transmission's front and an output speed sensor at the back. Additionally, it's recommended to examine the wheel speed sensors on each wheel, mainly utilized for the ABS system, as they could sometimes affect the gauges.
