The secondary air injection pump on a 2006 Toyota Sequoia is located before the catalytic converter in the exhaust system. You can easily spot the air injection pump connected to the exhaust piping. This pump functions by introducing clean air into the exhaust to decrease emissions. When the secondary air pump malfunctions, it can cause issues with the O2 sensor, which detects abnormal oxygen levels due to the pump not functioning properly.
