In a 2011 Chevrolet Malibu, the shift solenoid can be found inside the transmission itself. While the part isn't too expensive, replacing it can be more trouble than it's worth as it usually requires removing the transmission. However, there is an alternative method to swap out the shift solenoid without taking out the transmission. I recommend watching Brandon Keefe's YouTube tutorial for guidance on this process. Even though the video features an older model (2006 Malibu), the steps should be similar for your 2011 version. You can watch the tutorial at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pJxprLe68kk
The Chevy Malibu's shift solenoid for the 2011 model is situated within the oil pan and linked to the valve body.
