The starter for a 2011 Dodge Ram 1500 can be found at the bottom rear of the engine on the left side for the driver. Before starting the process, disconnect the negative terminal of the battery. Use a 10-millimeter wrench or socket to loosen it and move it away from the battery. If you go underneath the cab just behind the front tire on the driver's side and look where the engine meets the transmission, you will locate the starter. You'll need a 15-millimeter socket and a ratchet to remove it. There are two bolts securing the starter to the Bell housing. After removing these bolts, you can carefully take out the starter and let it rest on the front drive shaft. Disconnect the push-on electrical connector and the battery cable, which is fastened with a 13-millimeter nut.
