In the 2012 Chevy Equinox, the starter is located above the oil filter and beside the A/C compressor below the driver's side of the cylinder. Accessing and removing the starter can be a bit tricky as you'll need to go underneath the car where the transmission and engine block meet. Be sure to disconnect the starter wires. To release the heater tubing, you'll need to locate the nuts behind the plastic air vent just below the turbo. Replacing the starter can cost anywhere between $65 and $120, depending on whether you choose an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) or aftermarket product.
The starter for a 2012 Chevy Equinox can be found on the side of the engine, specifically where the transmission connects to it.
Both individuals are incorrect; the correct location is towards the lower section of the engine, directly in the middle, just beneath the oil filter.
