The 2001 VW Beetle's starter relay is located in the main fuse panel near the battery under the hood. It is responsible for transferring power from the battery to the starter motor. You can identify the relay for the starter by using the plastic cover on the panel. If your vehicle doesn't start, the initial step is to attempt a jump start. If successful, there may be a battery issue. If jump starting doesn't work and there is no cranking sound from the starter motor, this could indicate a problem with either the starter motor, relay, or solenoid.
Check beneath the dashboard where you'll find a group of relays to pinpoint the starter relay on the 2001 Volkswagen Beetle.
