In the 2008 Ram 1500, you can find the starter relay below the fuse panel under the hood. Over time, issues may arise with the battery. A leak could occur, leading to fluid spillage or the battery simply dying. If this happens, you'll need to either recharge it or get a replacement. If the case cracks, a full replacement will be necessary. Rapid draining of the battery may also occur, requiring immediate attention. Eventually, this component will lose its effectiveness, necessitating replacement every 50,000 to 60,000 miles. While it may cost some money, you'll need to invest in maintaining your car’s functionality.
I checked the fuse box in my 2008 Dodge Ram but couldn't find the starter relay in there.
The 2008 Ram 1500's starter relay can be found in the primary fuse box situated under the hood.
I was informed that the ignition switch is actually built into the fuse panel.
In both locations, there was no fuse box except for the single one located under the hood.
Jeremy, I'm in the same boat as you - no one seems to have the answer. I even checked with a dealership, but they didn't know either. Can anyone help me out? I'm trying to resolve an issue and I really need some information.
Certainly! Absolutely
It looks like the maker wants us to take it for repairs since it appears to be missing. We're puzzled why it wasn't simply installed inside or behind the fuse box in the engine compartment.
I was able to repair my 2008 RAM 1500 today. It had been sitting idle for a year before I started it up. I discovered that the start relay is soldered onto a circuit board within the fuse box, which led to expensive replacement costs. As I troubleshooted the issue, I connected a jumper wire to the start terminal on the starter, causing it to crank. Interestingly, after using the jumper wire, the key was suddenly able to start the engine as well. It seemed like a stroke of luck, and as the saying goes, "Don't question a good thing!
Based on what I know, the starter relay in my 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 with a 4.7 engine is located within the TIPM module and is attached to the circuit board. Unfortunately, TIPM modules are quite costly, and I am unable to locate a replacement relay to solder on my own.
What is the solution, then?
