To access the thermostat on a 2016 Chevy Colorado, start by removing the driver side front tire and pulling back the splash guard. The thermostat housing can be found at the end of the radiator hose that connects to the engine. Ensure the engine has cooled down before attempting to remove it. After removing the tire, disconnect the lower radiator hose and position a container underneath to catch any fluid. Use long needle-nose pliers to loosen the hose from the housing. Next, use a 10mm socket attached to a swivel extension and ratchet to remove the two bolts securing the housing. Gently detach the housing from the engine and replace the thermostat with a new one.

The thermostat housing on a 2016 GMC Canyon V6 is not located on the driver's side of the engine. I have not been able to locate it yet, but I have noticed that the lower radiator hose runs down the passenger side of the engine before seeming to disappear towards the rear.
