The TCM in a 2011 Chevy Equinox is situated on the firewall and acts as the brain for the transmission system. This computer figures out the optimal settings for the transmission to operate smoothly. If the TCM malfunctions, it can lead to incorrect calculations, resulting in transmission issues. If the TCM fails, driving the car may not be possible, and if you manage to drive, you'll likely be limited to second gear. It's best to have it replaced promptly if it fails to avoid further problems.
The Chevy Equinox's transmission control module (TCM) from 2011 can be found at the bottom of the firewall.
