The control module for the transmission can be found in a bracket on the top side of the steering column in the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee. If the vehicle is having gearbox trouble, which is also known as the transmission, you might experience any of the following signs: gear slipping or banging during shifts, delayed or premature shifting, unexpected operation timing, abnormal sounds during gear shifts, such as grinding noises originating from beneath the car's hood where the gears are rubbing, transmission fluid leaks resulting in puddles under the parked car, and in the worst case scenario, the car may become inoperable altogether if the transmission malfunctions and damages the vehicle.
